New Quilter

I'm a brand new quilter following in the footsteps of my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Some years back, I saw a brief segment on quilting while I was on jury duty and it sparked an interest which finally burst into full flame this year. I'm still working on learning the fundamentals so please bear with me and my questions.
