I recently enrolled in an on-line sewing class. Has anyone had any experience with on-line classes?

Sometimes I think it is way above my head. Just wondering.:)

Not an online SEWING class. Good luck!! I would like the hands-on help I think . . .

 I would like a refresher on how to sew a pocket on a garment by machine without any stitches showing on the right side. I saw this on a sewing program but I can't recall where I saw it or how to do it.

Hello! I know what you mean about "refreshers." I seem to need them more often than I used to. :D

To attach a pocket with invisible machine-stitching, it has to be reasonably large and curved, not square, on the bottom. Prepare the pocket by finishing the facing edge, press it under, and fuse or stitch the facing in place.

On the right side, stitch around the pocket on the seamline. Notch the curves, and press the seam allowance under, making sure the stitching is just rolled under, too, so that it does not show.

Pin the pocket to your garment piece, and carefully baste it in place with a large zigzag stitch that just catches the edge of the pocket.

Now, by moving the pocket aside, you can stitch halfway down from top to bottom, using the original seamline-stitching as a guide. Then do the same on the other half, from top to bottom. Take out the zigzag basting, and you're done -- with no stitches showing.

I hope this helps. Happy day to you! :)

Thank you for the info. I tried your method (which was the one I had in mind) and it worked perfectly. :)

I think online classes are great! I mean, no way could I afford to take a class from Kenneth King or the other "name" people you can take online classes from! And I've learned so much!

I also think I like them better because not only can I move at my own pace, but I don't get that performance anxiety knowing that folks around me can see my first time mistakes. I may be just quirky but I prefer online to in person classes.

Can you find on line lessons on quilting or machine embrobiry? Where can I find info on on-line classes??
Thanks, Sue

The on-line class I am familiar with is: seeitsewit.com. You can go on this site as a guest and look around. You can take sample classes. The administrator is Heather Clause. I got the info from Threads magazine. I not sure if she has embrodery or not. Take a look and see.
