Hello, I'm new here and I was just curious about making quilts and the type of batting used.
Whenever I go to the fabric store they usually just have polyester. Do people use other types of batting? And if so where do you get them? Thanks! |

I usually use Warm and Natural or Warm and white. It is 87 percent cotton and 12 percent poly. It is found at most large fabric stores like Jo-Ann Fabrics and Hancocks Fabrics. It is also 90 inchs wide.

Hi, poly is not one of my favorites, I will use Mountain Mist sometimes but my favorite is Warm and Natural, it is a cotton and is really easy to use. It comes in the natural color and I have seen it in black to use when quilting dark colors. I hope this helps you some.

Dear Andie,
There are many different kinds of batting. One of my favorities is the Hobbs 80/20. It needles well. Warm and Natural is another favorite. Hobbs 80/20 can be purchased at Hobby Lobby as well as JoAnns. Warm and Natural can be purchased through Fabric.com. The loft of the batting will effect the look of your quilt. A thin batting will give a more antique or flatter look to your quilt. |
