Default Sewing on Upholstery Fabric

To paraphrase the customer's question;
She wants to sew on heavier fabric such as upholstery fabric. She makes totes and bags. Etc. She is using a serger. The problem is the intersection of the fabrics is very bulky. She is looking for tips and tricks. She is also using the Bernina Aurora .Can you help with needle sizes, etc that might eliminate some of her problems. I know that you have the answers.

You might try trimming out the seams where they intersect. I do that on anything that I am sewing/serging that is very bulky. Just trim it to about 1/8 to 1/16 of an inch and press it open flat. It might be worth a try.
