Default sewing on velcro

Hi, I am sewing velcro on to baby diapers. The velcro I bought has a sticky back. My needle keeps getting caught and gummed up. Any ideas? What size and type needle would be good? Any tips on seewing velcro on would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Default velcro without sticky back is better

The sticky back is sticking to your neddle. I hope you have not bought to much of this. I would go and get your velcro by the yard, the kind you sew on and not glue on.
